The San Javier WWTP (Murcia, Spain) has two output ponds where it has been proved the effectiveness of DUMO Algacleaner treatment against algae in an environmentally responsible way.
A unit of DUMO Algacleaner has been installed in one of the ponds, in wich action range, as you can see in the picture, the water is clean and shows no sign of algae. In the rest of the pond, where there is no working units yet, you can see the difference.
According to the technicians of the WWTP, usually in summer they would have had to empty the pond several times for cleaning. Because the water of the pond is subsequently used for the irrigation, it cannot be treated with chemicals.
Thanks to this and other facilities created in the area in recent years, benefiting irrigators and neighbors, it is being achieved the goal of zero discharge to the salty lagoon of Mar Menor natural park.
The Wastewater Treatment Station of San Javier has the capacity to treat a wastewater flow of 30,000 cubic meters per day, equivalent to a population of 160,000.
The facilities consist of three separate water lines for pre-treatment processes, biological treatment, secondary sedimentation and tertiary treatment by filtration, ensuring both the quality of the resulting water for reuse, and flexibility of operation at the flow variation, typical of a coastal town like San Javier, due to summer fluctuations in population.
